Transplant targets for liver, kidney and pancreas operations are behind for the first six months of this year due to a lack of donated organs.
However the latest figures from the HSE show that overall the number of transplants is on track to equal last year's record-breaking total of 294.
According to the Irish Independent, heart and lung transplants are expected to exceed national targets, while just 18 live kidney donations have been made so far this year - well behind the target of 50.
The Irish Kidney Association is describing the figures as "a mixed result".
