The Seanad has unanimously passed a call to ban child beauty pageants in Ireland.

The Seanad has unanimously passed a call to ban child beauty pageants in Ireland.

Members from all parties backed a plea for the Government to make the events illegal in this country.

However children's minister Frances Fitzgerald told Senators that she does not think she can introduce laws to ban the events altogether.
