Santa cleared for arrival, 'Minister for Time' announces

Despite the weather, Santa Claus will be arriving on time this Christmas, Alan Shatter has announced in a press release issued as "Minister for Time".

"I want to assure children across Ireland that all necessary arrangements have been made to facilitate the timely arrival of Santa Claus," he said in the statement.

No excess baggage charged will be imposed on the sacks full of presents," Minister Shatter promised, and "both An Garda Síochána and members of the Defence Forces stand ready on alert to provide him with any assistance required."

The Minister also reminded the public that Santa's progress can be tracked on noradsanta.com, as the North American Aerospace Defense Command keep an eye on his flight path. He also said member of the Irish Air Corps would be keeping a close eye on radar.

Mr Shatter was jokingly named the Minister for Time in October, when he issued a press release urging citizens to "seize the hour" gained as the clocks go back.

What has that to do with Santa?

Well, "because of the speedy manner in which he goes about his business… it is anticipated that Santa Claus will deliver his Christmas presents throughout Ireland and the UK in the blink of an eye," Shatter said.
