Right2Water supports May Day demonstrations; denies hijacking them

The Right2Water campaign are lending their support to this year's May Day demonstrations.

People will assemble at the Garden of Remembrance at 6.30pm today.

The Right2Water campaign said the demonstration offered an opportunity for them to send an anti-austerity message.

However, the campaign's co-ordinator David Gibney denied they were hijacking the event.

"The May Day events are a day for working people…People who have been involved in Right2Water have been workers, whether they're in employment or unemployed," he said.

"They're the people who have been on the streets, forcing change from a political establishment that has been attacking them for years."
