A total of 65,000 people opted out of their health insurance policy last year, according to the Health Insurance Authority.

The group have published figures, which showed that the rate of people exiting the market doubled in 2011 compared to the previous year.

The research also shows that more people are switching policies than ever before, with price the biggest factor in making the decision.
