PTSB AGM: Mortgage-holders vent anger at 'extortionate' rates

People with home loans from Permanent TSB have been venting their anger at the lender's AGM.

A number of mortgage holders told the gathering in Dublin today how their repayments - at higher-than-average interest rates - make them feel like "prisoners".

The group was invited to speak by PTSB's chairman Alan Cooke.

Some spoke of what they called "extortionate" interest rates and said they were not looking for debt forgiveness, just for a fair rate.

PTSB's variable rate stands at 4.69%, still far above rival bank rates of around 3%.
