There are mixed views on whether a Property Tax wording blunder will stall house sales, as buyers and sellers doing deals now are arguing over who has to pay the levy for 2014.
Those getting rid of their homes say they're not liable, while some buyers claim they're exempt from the tax for the first three years.
Economist with property website Daft.ie. Ronan Lyons, said "Ultimately these things come down to bargaining and deals," he said.
"If it is the case that people who buy now don't have to pay property tax, that puts them in a stronger bargaining position versus the seller.
"So we'll see human ingenuity come into play here."
Solicitors say the situation is a mess because sales can't go through until the bill is sorted.
