Power grid restoration nears completion

Power is expected to be restored to nearly all ESB customers this evening.

Network teams repaired another 500 faults today, getting an extra 10,000 people back on the grid after the St Stephen's Day storms.

In total 78,000 homes and businesses are now re-connected after gale force winds reaching up to 150 km per hour cut off supplies.

A final 800 customers will be left without power overnight though.

The effected areas will be 300 customers in Tralee, 200 in Ennis, 200 in Bandon, Dunmanway, and Killarney, and 100 homes and businesses in Newcastlewest.
