Post mortem due on body of former garda
A post mortem will be carried out this morning on the body of a former garda shot dead in County Cavan yesterday.
The man in his 40s, named locally as John Keirns, was found dead in a house on the outskirts of the village of Canningstown shortly after midday yesterday.
Gardaí have said they are following several lines of inquiry.
Superintendent Gerry O'Brien wants to speak to anyone who may have been in the area between 5pm on Thursday and 8am yesterday.
