PAC may call chair of DDDA
The taxpayers' watchdog says it does not accept a claim from the outgoing chair of the Dublin Docklands Development Authority (DDDA) that she would not be a witness to an inquiry.
The Dáil Public Accounts Committee (PAC) is to conduct an examination of the authority next week following a series of financial scandals.
Professor Niamh Brennan was appointed chair of the DDDA after the scandals emerged.
She has signalled that she would not have a role in any inquiry.
But PAC Chairman John McGuinness says he will write to her to say she may well be a witness.
"She wasn't chairperson at the beginning of this and she brought in to do a particular task - and I think that is recognised by Deputy Donoghue the fine work that she did undertake" he said.
"She's now not chairman of the board; but because of the fact that she had an involvement, the Public Accounts Committee if it wishes to have her brought before the Committee can do that".
"And we'll make that known I think in correspondence after this meeting today," he added.
