The chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, John McGuinness, said he will ask the Dail's procedural body for advice on giving a Garda whistleblower a copy of his own evidence.
McGuinness was absent from last week's meeting where members decided not to issue a transcript to Sergeant McCabe.
The committee has been told there could be serious legal concerns about issuing a transcript of a meeting held in private session.
Deputy McGuinness said he wants legal advice from the Dáil committee on Procedures and Privileges before the committee makes a final decision.
"There's a number of procedural matters I have to check as chairman… I want to … ask about that procedure today, and then we'll come back to the committee and explain that procedure and do what's necessary after I am informed," he said.
