The acting Garda Commissioner, Noirin O'Sullivan, says senior managers within the force are fully supportive of the whistleblower Maurice McCabe.

O'Sullivan: Senior Gardaí 'very supportive' of whistleblower

The acting Garda Commissioner, Noirin O'Sullivan, says senior managers within the force are fully supportive of the whistleblower Maurice McCabe.

Ms O'Sullivan says Gardaí want all members of the force to feel free to bring forward any issues they want to raise.

Her comments follow reports that Mr McCabe has been told he has "ruined" the force by blowing the whistle on alleged malpractice.

The commissioner says senior officials have contacted Sergeant McCabe to discuss those reports with him.

She said the interim confidential recipient, Judge McMahon, has been asked to contact Sergeant McCabe's legal advisor to identify issued raised by his client.
