One man found dead as rescue services search for two more in Wicklow

The body of a man has been recovered from the Avoca River in Co Wicklow.

A search is continuing this morning for two other people believed to be missing there following reports that they got into difficulty in the river overnight.

The victim is believed to have been in his 40's, and his body remains at the scene.

Rescue services were alerted to the incident at around 4.30am this morning at the Avoca River near the Bridgewater Shopping centre in Arklow.

Two people were rescued from the water, one person was taken to hospital for treatment.

However, the search is continuing this morning for two other people who are feared missing.

Members of the Arklow Lifeboat, Irish Coastguard helicopter, fire services and Gardaí are involved in the operation.
