New figures show homelessness has climbed to its highest ever level.
7,167 people are homeless in Ireland, according to the January figures.
Campaigners on homelessness say the government needs to do much more to tackle the issue.
The rate of increase has slowed down, and the number of homeless families also dropped last month.
The Housing Minister Simon Coveney says it is a sign government policies are working.
Mike Allen of Focus Ireland says much more needs to be done.
"One child losing their home every five hours in Dublin during January, the month after Christmas, is something that we just can't survive as a country. We need to tackle that, and we need to tackle that far more seriously than we've done in the past," he said.
