There has been another fall in the number of people with private health insurance.

Figures from the Health Insurance Authority show 21,000 people dropped their private cover between December and March of this year.

There are now 47,000 fewer people with private health insurance than at the same time last year.

There are now around 2,031,000 people with private health cover in Ireland, down from almost 2.3m when records began at the end of 2008.
