No more strikes: Key agreement reached in Aer Lingus dispute

A breakthrough has been reached in the Aer Lingus roster dispute after management and unions agreed the dispute would end and staff would be returned to the payroll.

The agreement is pending the outcome of a binding arbitration by the Labour Relations Commission which is expected within days.

The breakthrough came after talks between cabin crew and management continued overnight.

Disruptions to flights may still continue as staff return to the roster. Passengers have been advised to check the airline's website.

The row has disrupted flights for almost three weeks.

Head of human resources at Aer Lingus Michael Greely said: "The dispute has been fully resolved…We wanted an implementation of 850 block hours, which is the amount of time cabin crew would work in a year in flight. That has been achieved.

"Furthermore, we have agreed a programme of industrial peace, ie no strikes…which takes us through 2012."

National secretary of IMPACT Matt Staunton said that "mosdt of ths issues that came on our radar" were resolved, but some key issues remained to be resolved.
