A new information campaign is being launched today to help migrants prepare before they come to Ireland.

A DVD produced by FÁS in five languages will be distributed by employment services in countries like Slovenia, Slovakia, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania and the Czech Republic.

Non-nationals now account for 8% of all workers in Ireland, but they still face huge obstacles in looking for jobs.

Their lack of fluency in English is their biggest obstacle when it comes to finding professional work.

This new “Know Before You Go” campaign aims to prevent a situation where immigrants arrive here and are stranded without money, jobs, accommodation, contacts and with the wrong papers.
