The Garda Commissioner is vowing to clamp down on head shops as hard as the force has tackled drug trafficking and drug dealing.

Commissioner Fachtna Murphy said he is concerned about the growing phenomenon of head shops and once legislation comes into force, he will ensure it is enforced.

A number of Chief Superintendents have warned that head shop owners could be charged with reckless endangerment if anyone using their products come to harm.

Commissioner Murphy said he fully supports these officers.
