Windy and blustery weather conditions are expected to continue across the west, north-west and south of the country for much of the evening.

Met Eireann is warning that heavy showers or prolonged spells of rain will bring rainfall totals of up to 60 millimetres in places.

Meanwhile, a wind warning also remains in place with gusts of up to 90 kilometres per hour predicted at times.

Joan Blackburn, a forecaster from Met Eireann, said: "The story for the rest of the weekend is that tomorrow won't be quite as mild as today, there will probably be more cloud around.

"There will be a good few showers also and still pretty blustery conditions as well right across the weekend."
