Met Eireann is warning of further disruption to power supplies and possible damage as it issues another nationwide storm warning.

An Orange level storm alert is in effect from 5pm this evening and through most of tomorrow.

The forecaster says winds will increase to between 55 and 75 kilometres per hour, with gusts of 90 to 120 kilometres per hour and 130 kilometres per hour in some coastal areas.

Meanwhile in southern England, thousands of families are still without power, following severe storms and flooding there.

Yesterday 1,000 homes had to be evacuated.

More than 100 flood warnings are still in place across Britain.
