Men remanded after two Dublin gardaí are attacked

Two Dublin men appeared in court this morning in connection with an incident in the early hours of this morning in which two gardaí received injuries.

Two Dublin men appeared in court this morning in connection with an incident in the early hours of this morning in which two gardaí received injuries.

Karl Cullen (aged 20), of Dingle Rd, and his cousin Paul Cullen (aged 30), of Fassaugh Ave were arrested at 1.20am at Fassaugh Rd.

The two men were held at Mountjoy Garda Station and Cabra Garda Station, and are both charged with a number of offences including assault causing harm, possession of offensive weapons and resisting arrest.

Garda Amanda Lynch sustained a suspected ruptured spleen and student garda Zihao Weng sustained suspected facial fractures. Both were taken to the Mater Hospital following the incident.

Judge Cormac Dunne remanded the suspects in custody to appear again at Clover Hill District Court next Wednesday at 10.30am.
