Meath man wins almost half a million in Euromillions Quick Pick

A delighted Meath man won €436,958 after matching five numbers and a lucky star in the Euromillions draw on Friday 5 August.

The man, who wishes to keep his win private, purchased his ticket in Carlanstown, Kells, Co. Meath.

The delighted winner, who is also a National Lottery online player said he usually plays the Euromillions numbers online, but on this occasion decided to try out his local shop.

"I would always play my Lotto and EuroMillions numbers online but I was in my local shop in Carlanstown and I decided to play a Quick Pick there instead, thankfully" he laughed.

"I was on my laptop the next day and I was checking the numbers from the previous night and I just could not believe it when I saw the results come up on my screen. I had to keep checking and checking to make sure that I didn’t make a mistake with the date

"But sure enough, here I am in the National Lottery offices with a cheque for over four hundred thousand euro in my hands! It will take some time to sink in but it is an unbelievable feeling,’ he said.

"The one feeling which keeps coming into my mind is freedom. The freedom from money worries and the freedom to start making decisions. I was in a tight spot financially but this win will give me the freedom to make some important life changes.

"I am going to pay off my mortgage, pay all of my bills and then go on a nice holiday in the coming weeks," he added.

Meanwhile, the National Lottery are urging all Meath Lotto players to check their Lotto tickets as a €500,000 Lotto Plus 1 prize from 04 June has still not been claimed.

The winner(s) of the €500,000 Lotto Plus 1 top prize has just one week left to claim their big prize. The deadline of Friday 2 September 2016 is fast approaching.
