McDonald's creates 70 jobs at Dublin drive-thru
McDonald's officially opened a new 24 hour drive-thru restaurant in Charlestown today, creating 70 jobs in north Dublin.
Located in the shopping centre just off junction 5 on the M50, McDonald’s Charlestown has a capacity for 95 customers and represents an investment of €2m in north Dublin, with the majority of employees coming from the local area.
The Charlestown opening brings the total number of McDonald’s restaurants in Ireland to 82, with a workforce of 4,000.
McDonald’s Charlestown franchisee Morgan McStay, commented: “This is a great time of year for the restaurant to open and the reaction from customers has been very strong so far.
“The opening of McDonald’s in Charlestown gives another boost to the local area and to the shopping centre in which we are located. I expect that strong trading performance to continue and I look forward to building up our customer base in the months and years ahead.”
Adrian Crean, managing director of McDonald’s Restaurants of Ireland, said that the new venture demonstrates McDonald’s determination to continue creating new Irish jobs.
“McDonald’s is very pleased to deliver 70 new jobs for north Dublin with the opening of our new Charlestown restaurant,” he said.
“The more jobs we create, the more Irish produce we need to source and buy for our restaurants, which is good news for our Irish suppliers and for the Irish economy. We look forward to continuing to grow our business through the rest of 2012 and beyond.”
