The Mater Hospital has denied that its nurses building is being demolished to make way for the new Children's Hospital.
In a statement this evening, the Mater Campus Hospital Development Company said the demolition has been delayed due to the late submission of proposals by two contractors.
They were submitted after the deadline for tenders, and as five tenders were required, the process became void.
The demolition work has now been retendered.
The nurses building is being knocked down to allow for development of the University Hospital and has no bearing on the development of the National Children's Hospital.
