Man tied up and couple confronted by raiders at home in Wicklow

Gardaí are hunting an armed gang who tied up a man and confronted a couple at their home in Wicklow.

The incident happened at the property in Laragh late last night.

The masked raiders are thought to have been armed with a shotgun when they went to the property yesterday evening, tied up an employee at the scene and waited for the owners to return.

When the pair, who are local businesspeople, came back at 11.55pm they were confronted by the men, who demanded money.

The woman contacted Gardaí, and the gang fled the scene with a small amount of cash and a mobile phone.

Nobody was physically hurt in the incident and Gardaí in Ashford are investigating.
