Man suffers 'bullet wounds' in Galway incident

A 31-year-old Lithuanian man is being treated at the University College Hospital in Galway following an incident in Athenry.

A 31-year-old Lithuanian man is being treated at the University College Hospital in Galway following an incident in Athenry.

Gardaí were called to a house in Fernhill after a disturbance was reported between 9pm and 9.30pm last night.

Extensive damage was caused to the property.

Some time later the man attended the Galway Clinic with injuries to his leg, which are believed be bullet wounds.

He was later transferred to University College Hospital where his condition is described as not life threatening.

Gardaí are now trying to establish the identity and whereabouts of the occupants of the house who are from Lithuania.
