A man who beat an American pilot in the head with a golf club as he walked along Drumcondra Road Lower in Dublin has been jailed for 18 months.

A man who beat an American pilot in the head with a golf club as he walked along Drumcondra Road Lower in Dublin has been jailed for 18 months.

Tomas Vilkas of Cabra Park, Phibsborough, admitted attacking Alfred Anderson in April 2013, but told Gardaí he thought he was someone else.

The court heard Mr Anderson was unable to fly his plane back to New York the day after the attack and suffered headaches for several weeks afterwards.
