Man due in court in connection with Dublin car jacking

A man is due in court in connection with an attempted car jacking in Dublin.

The incident happened in Cabra over the weekend.

The ordeal began at around 10pm on Saturday night when a taxi driver picked up a fare in the city centre and headed towards Finglas.

The passenger then asked the driver to pull over at Royal Canal Avenue in Cabra before assaulting the driver.

The driver was dragged out of the cab and stabbed several times in the arm with a corkscrew.

Passers-by came to his aid and held the attacker before gardaí arrived.

A 30-year-old man is due in court shortly in connection with the assault.
