A man has died after the car he was driving left the road in Co Galway yesterday.

A man has died after the car he was driving left the road in Co Galway yesterday.

The accident happened on the R363 at Islandcase, Ballygar at approximately 1.30pm.

The man, who was aged in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The female passenger, also aged in her 40s, was taken to Portiuncula Hospital Ballinasloe with injuries described as non life threatening.

The road was closed for an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and has since reopened.
