A 38-year-old man has died in a road crash in Co. Kildare.

A 38-year-old man has died in a road crash in Co. Kildare.

The man died when the four-by-four jeep he was driving collided with a ditch at Ladychapel, in Maynooth at around a 3.15pm this afternoon.

A female passenger was taken to Naas General Hospital for treatment on minor injuries.

There were no other cars involved.

The R408 was closed for a time earlier, to facilitate a forensic examination, but has since re-opened.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses of the crash to contact Leixlip Garda Station.
