Man dead after suspected gangland shooting

A man has been found dead in south Dublin after a suspected gangland shooting.

The victim, aged in his early 30s, was discovered by gardaí in a side street off the Bohernabreena Road in Tallaght.

It is understood he was in a car.

Gardaí found the body around 10.30pm last night. The man has not yet been formally identified.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination and the body remained at the scene this morning.

Indications would suggest that the man died a violent death in a gangland-style attack.

The Offices of the State Pathologist have been notified.

This is the eighth violent death since the start of the year - compared to six in the first three months of last year.

Gardaí in Tallaght are appealing for anyone who was in the area last night and who may have seen anything suspicious to contact them.
