A man, caught speeding at 208km per hour has been jailed for three months at Naas District Court.

In a post on the official Garda Facebook page Gardaí said the young man was sentenced to three months in prison, as well as a €1,000 fine.

The man is also disqualified from driving for four years and must re-sit his driving test after this suspension.

The offence was carried out in late January on the M7 motorway between Monasterevin and Kildare.

In the statement released by the Gardaí they noted the road was wet at the time with “plenty of traffic”

The Gardaí also said this was one of the highest speeds the Naas Traffic Corps have ever come across.
