A 45-year-old man has been arrested for questioning over the death of a woman whose body was found in the boot of a car in Dublin yesterday.
It is understood the woman may have been shot. The body has not been formally identified, but is understood to be that of 30-year-old Helen Donegan.
Ms Donegan was last seen at her home in Celbridge in Kildare almost seven weeks ago. In the last few days, gardaí investigating her disappearance have carried out searches in North Kildare and South Dublin.
Yesterday they searched the boot of a car parked at a rented garage in Newcastle in Co Dublin. They discovered the badly decomposed remains of a woman, believed to be those of the missing 30-year-old.
The state pathologist's office will carry out a full post mortem on the body later today as gardaí continue a forensic examination of the area.
A man is being held and questioned at Clondalkin garda station.
