A 20-year-old man has been injured in a shooting.

A forensic examination will be carried out at the scene of a shooting incident in Cork city last night.

At around 11.30pm, a 20-year-old man was injured during the incident at Fairfield in Fairhill.

He was taken by ambulance to Cork University Hospital. Gardaí say his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The scene has been preserved.
