LISTEN: 'I'll kill you!' Wicklow couple get engaged live on air

A Wicklow couple who campaigned for a Yes vote in the marriage referendum have made the first steps toward availing of the new laws, when they are in enacted.

Dave Thomas and Patrick Bracken are behind Wicklow's first ever Gay Pride festival, which is taking place between June 29 and July 4.

Today on East Coast FM's morning show, Dave surprised Patrick by popping the question.

"Dave - we've been together for 16 years, I want to ask you will you marry me?" Dave said.

Patrick replied: "Wow - absolutely yes. I can't believe you've done this either, I'm going to kill you!

"I can't think of a better person to marry because Brad Pitt turned me down, Matt Damon turned me down - so Patrick Bracken, absolutely yes," he added.
