Labour wants to 'distribute wealth in society'

A former Labour Minister has said that the party wants control, and it wants power.

Ruairi Quinn claims that Labour and Fine Gael are the only parties that actually want to be in Government.

He added that Fianna Fáil have ruled themselves out, while Sinn Fein's past will cancel them out for a lot of voters.

Former Minister Ruairi Quinn said they want to be re-elected to make a difference: “We want control, we want power so we can redistribute wealth in society, but you have to first of all create the wealth.

“And we didn’t have a strong industrial base where wealth was automatically being created and that is why we were much more conscious about the need to generate wealth and create it rather than simply distribute it.”
