Labour slams move to push through co-location provisions

The Labour Party is criticising the Government for trying to push through legislation relating to co-location on the back of emergency efforts to close off a legal loophole.

Minister for Health Mary Harney is seeking to pass emergency laws that will close off a loophole which could leave the legal status of 19 health bodies in question.

While Labour supports this part of the legislation, it says the minister is wrong to include politically contentious provisions that relate to co-location at two major hospitals in Dublin.

The party is seeking an amendment to remove this aspect from the bill, saying TDs will not have time to debate the matter properly.
