Midfielder Marc Kenny has parted company with Shamrock Rovers before a ball has been kicked this season.

Kenny was new manager Roddy Collins’ first signing as Shamrock Rovers manager when he enticed him back to the Hoops after a three-month stint, also under Collins, at Dublin City.

The 31-year-old was reported to be looking at turning full-time to meet Rovers’ demands, though he is now looking for a new club with just three weeks to go until the start of the season.

While the transfer window closes on Friday, Kenny will be allowed to join a club after the window closes because he is out of contract.
