Jury to resume deliberations in conspiracy to defraud trial of bankers

Jurors in a conspiracy to defraud trial will resume their deliberations this morning.

Four former bankers are accused of taking part in a dishonest scheme aimed at misleading investors and depositors in Anglo Irish Bank in 2008.

The accused are Denis Casey and Peter Fitzpatrick, formerly of Irish Life & Permanent, and former Anglo bankers Willie McAteer and John Bowe.

Each of the men has denied being part of a scheme to mislead the public into thinking Anglo Irish Bank was €7.2bn healthier than it was.

Yesterday the jury finished their fifth day of deliberations without reaching any verdicts.
