Jobstown protest organised to highlight 'attack on civil liberties'
Organisers say that a protest in Dublin this afternoon aims to highlight what they call an "attack on civil liberties in Ireland".
The protest comes after a number of people were charged in connection with an incident involving the Tánaiste at an anti-water charge protest in Dublin last year.
Protesters will meet at 1pm today at the Central Bank in Dublin.
Last month, the DPP decided to pursue criminal charges against 27 people, including Socialist TD Paul Murphy and Dublin councillors Kieran Mahon and Mick Murphy.
Just under half of those issued with summonses are due to face false imprisonment charges, while the others will be charged with criminal damage or violent disorder.
The adults will appear before Dublin District Court on November 2, while the juveniles have been ordered to appear before the Children’s Court on October 29.
