Irish consumers look set to spend around €1.55bn this festive season.

New data from Webloyalty.ie shows spending this Christmas will be up 3.5% on last year.

More than €800m will be spent on presents with the average budget being €578.

The average Irish consumer will spend around 12 hours shopping - a mix of in-store buying and online sales - while the tradition of sending Christmas cards is still alive with 68% saying they will send cards this year.
