Irish Cancer Society to discuss medical card issue with Health Minister

The Irish Cancer Society will meet with the Health Minister James Reilly and officials from the Department of Health today to discuss discretionary medical cards.

Yesterday, the HSE appointed an expert panel to recommend the range of medical conditions that should be considered when determining eligibility and a public consultation on the matter is also underway.

The group is seeking the inclusion of cancer as a condition which would entitle the applicant to a discretionary medical card.
