Ireland tops EU table for electronics recycling

Ireland is top of the European league table when it comes to recycling electronic equipment

Ireland is top of the European league table when it comes to recycling electronic equipment.

The organisation that oversees implementation of the EU's WEEE directive says 30,000 tonnes of electrical and electronic waste was collected in Ireland last year.

This translates to around 9kgs per person, more than double the EU target for electronic waste recycling.

The WEEE directive makes producers and retailers responsible for the recycling of such goods.
