New research shows people living in these counties tend to spend more than €2,000 on alcohol every year.

That's compared to Co. Tipperary, where residents shell out an average of €1,600.

The World Health Organisation puts Ireland second in the world for the highest level of drink consumption per capita.

In 2007, more than 7,000 people here were treated for alcohol abuse.
