Intel makes biggest private investment (€5bn) in history of State

Intel is investing €5bn in its facility at Leixlip in Co Kildare.

Over 5,000 construction workers are currently involved in project, which represents the largest private investment in the history of the State.

Intel is making the investment to prepare its Leixlip site for the next wave of technology.

Around 5,000 people work in Intel in Kildare, Shannon, Cork and Belfast.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny said the Intel investment was "a huge boost, not just to the greater Dublin area, but to the entire Irish economy".

Intel has invested a total of €12.5bn since it arrived here 25 years ago.
