IMF releases €1.4bn loan to Ireland

The International Monetary Fund has released a further €1.4bn loan instalment to Ireland.

The International Monetary Fund has released a further €1.4bn loan instalment to Ireland.

It comes after the country passed its sixth bailout review, with the IMF's executive board saying Ireland's programme is on track.

It said Ireland's implementation of agreed reforms has been "steadfast".

However, the IMF said the eurozone crisis had "resurfaced", leading to a rise in the cost of Irish sovereign bonds in recent months.
