Motorists are advised to drive with care due to icy conditions in parts this morning.

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow snow-ice warning - with icy stretches likely on footpaths and untreated road-surfaces.

The icy stretches will mostly affect Connacht, Ulster and north Leinster and will clear later this morning.

AA Roadwatch says there is snow around Barnesmore on the N15 Sligo-to-Letterkenny Road in Co Donegal.

It will be very cold today with occasional wintry showers, mostly in western and northern counties.

Some snow showers are likely this morning, most especially on higher ground, but some at lower levels too. There will be sunny spells also.

Afternoon temperatures will be between 3C and 6C. It will feel cold in the moderate to fresh northwest wind. Some prolonged showers are likely in northern counties this afternoon.
