The HSE says it will fully investigate the care it gave to Daniel McAnaspie, who disappeared last February while in HSE care.

The 17-year-old's body was found in a drain in Co Meath last week. He had been stabbed to death.

The Health Service Executive says it will review McAnaspie's death in accordance with the recently published HIQA guidelines for the Review of Serious Incidents including Deaths of Children in Care.

It is also in the process of appointing a panel of childcare experts and an independent chairperson to deal with the case.
