HSE sees a peak in flu sufferers in the New Year

The HSE says there has been an increase in patients being admitted to hospitals with flu.

Up to Christmas, there had been 33 confirmed cases being treated in hospitals, but there has been an increase in the New Year.

Today's Irish Times reports that in the winter of 2014 into 2015, 726 deaths attributable to flu were recorded among older people.
