Health Minister Mary Harney is refusing to say whether she asked the chairman of the national children's hospital development board to resign after a row over funding.
Philip Lynch stepped down earlier last week amid concerns over the funding available for the construction of the new hospital.
The Government is committing just €400m to build the hospital, but the latest estimate suggests it will cost at least €650m to construct.
Minister Harney has today refused to say why Mr Lynch stepped down, however she said the Government was committed to ensuring the hospital is built as quickly as possible.
